1. How is 1X ViroCoat different from a hand sanitizer?

The basic difference between 1X ViroCoat and a hand sanitizer is that a hand sanitizer is meant for temporary protection because it uses a combination of solvents that evaporate. 1X ViroCoat on the other hand is a limited duration antiviral and antibacterial paint with active ingredients. As you spray the product, a high solids coating is formed on the surface, which is required to spread over the surface to ensure protection of a larger surface. 

2. Is it mandatory to spread the coating after spraying?

Since 1X ViroCoat is an antiviral coating and not a sanitizer, it comprises various solid compounds such as resins, additives and some solvents. Although the solvents will evaporate, the resin and additives are solid compounds and hence, spreading the product after spraying is mandatory. If not spread, the solid compounds will deposit only over the area that is sprayed. The product is designed to spread over a surface to ensure maximum benefit of antibacterial and antiviral properties.

3. How does this product dry?

Like many other antiviral paints, this paint dries by using the oxygen and moisture from the air. This phenomenon is referred to as air-drying paint.

4. So if not used for some time, can the product dry in the packaging?

As mentioned above, in order for the product to dry in needs to be in constant contact with oxygen and moisture in the air. This antiviral coating in the bottle is not in constant contact with oxygen and moisture and hence it will not dry in the bottle. However, the tip of the spray, upon exposure to atmospheric air may dry, and hence we recommend wiping the tip of the spray after every use and capping it with the lid provided.

5. How should this product be applied?

As 1X ViroCoat is a coating, it should be applied in a well ventilated area, using gloves. It has a faint smell that will disappear by the time the product is dried. The product should be sprayed onto the surface and then spread evenly using a microfiber cloth for smaller surfaces and a squeegee wiper for long and flat surfaces. It is recommended to wash hands after using this antiviral paint.

6. What is the coverage of this product per liter?

The applications conditions, surface being sprayed and method of spraying play a big role in the coverage. The theoretical coverage of our anti-viral coating can vary from 800-1200 sq ft/liter.

7. Will there be any effect to the coating with UV radiation or sunlight?

No, there will be no effect to the antiviral coating and its antimicrobial properties with intermittent exposure to UV radiation or sunlight.

8. Is there any effect to the coating with regular use of sanitizer/detergent over the
coated surface?

No, there will not be any effect to the coating surface after the antiviral coating has dried.

9. Many doctors are currently using a UV chamber to sanitize equipment. Is this coating a replacement for this process?

No, 1X ViroCoat is not a replacement to sanitizing equipment via a UV chamber.

10. If sprayed onto an already painted surface, what will be the effect?

1X ViroCoat is made with a very special resin that is designed to adhere to multiple surfaces such as metal (mild steel, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.), plastic, glass, ceramic, leather and foam. You may spray this antiviral paint onto an already painted surface, spread it via a microfiber cloth and it will create a very thin transparent film with a slight sheen. The original color of the painted surface will be retained.

11. How do we remove this coating?

1Removal of this antiviral coating film is only possible via an abrasive tool, using force.The coating layer cannot be removed chemically. Over a period of time with regular usage and abrasion, the coating film of 2-3 micron will automatically reduce in thickness.

12. Can we expect spotting on the surface we spray 1X ViroCoat on?

No, you will not experience spotting on the surface if you spray and spread our anti viral coating evenly using a microfiber cloth. It is recommended that you spread the coating as
soon as you spray the material.

13. Can this product be used on the floor?

1X ViroCoat can be used over floors to protect against microbes and viruses. However, it is not recommended as an application for coating floors since floors are exposed to continuous man and machine movement. Due to this frequent mechanical movement, the antiviral coating is likely to wear out faster, hence increasing the frequency for recoating.
